AA to provide free breakdown assistance to Euro 2020 Final ticket holders

A guarantee you’ll see if football does come home: AA to provide free breakdown assistance on Sunday for ticket-holders travelling to Wembley for England’s Euro 2020 final

  • Motorists driving to the final in London will have free breakdown assistance
  • AA says fans can call a dedicated number – though will need to provide evidence that they have tickets to the match in order to receive the free service
  • If a car can’t be repaired, the AA will help drivers get to the stadium
  • The service is also available to help those whose cars  break down at home before setting off
  • The AA in 1966 helped fans attending the World Cup final by providing signage to lead the way to Wembley

The AA will be providing free breakdown help for any driver attending the Euro 2020 Final between England and Italy this Sunday.

More than 60,000 fans will be at Wembley for the game – only England’s second major final after winning the World Cup in 1966 – and the motoring organisation says it will help to ensure none will miss the chance to see football come home.

Ticket holding supporters who break down on their way to the stadium will be able to call for help and not be charged a penny for the service, whether or not they are AA members, it confirmed today.

Free service for footy fans: The AA will be providing complimentary breakdown help for any driver attending the Euro 2020 Final between England and Italy this Sunday, it has confirmed

A dedicated hotline has been set up on 0800 0725064.

The service is available to anyone with a ticket to the England versus Italy final and includes help getting to the stadium if their car cannot be fixed, as well as, help if they break down at home before setting off.

Edmund King, AA president, said: ‘Drivers on the road to Wembley can help make their journey trouble-free by checking their car is up to the job, but anyone unfortunate enough to break down has the reassurance that the AA is here to help.

‘We want to ensure that those lucky enough to have tickets to see ‘football coming home’ don’t miss the first major football final involving England for more than fifty years.’

King added: ‘We are all in this together so even if they are members of the RAC or Green Flag we want them to be there supporting England so we are happy to help them out in their hour of need.

‘Those watching from elsewhere may want to avoid the roads if England triumph over Italy, as street celebrations will mean roads through towns and cities are likely to be blocked throughout the night.’

Peak traffic is expected on the M1, M25, A1 and A405 from 4pm on Sunday as England fans arrive early to savour the atmosphere.

After the match, should England win, many town, city and village centres are expected to be full of revellers.

The last time England were involved in a major football final in 1966 the AA also helped out fans by providing signage to lead the way to Wembley.
