A photo submitted to law enforcement officials as evidence and subsequently obtained by TMZ shows Carter with a discoloured cheek.

Officers have since filed a report on the alleged attack, which Carter claims began after he told Valentina to stop accuse him of being in love with another woman.

Carter went on a bizarre Twitter rant on Thursday evening, shortly after police officers visited his home over concerns for his well-being.

‘Where is my ARMY at? I never gave up on you. Where are you when I need you the most. When you need me I’m always there. This is a cult and we are family. It’s about my talent. My dedication. My work ethics. My health and prosperity.

‘Let the battles begin. Like I said. The truth is coming out. Especially when it’s not my mugshot you’ll be seeing.’

He also seemed to take aim at his ex Lina, writing: ‘The last one is going to be very sorry….. you had a chance.’

And he also appeared to get into a spat with YouTuber Trisha Paytas before calling her a ‘sweet person’.

The family member who called police claimed that Carter had made some troubling comments last week around the time news emerged that he had broken up with girlfriend Lina Valentina.

Sources say the family member was concerned Carter had been doing drugs and was at risk of overdosing. They reportedly feared he was going to take his own life or harm someone else.

Police went to the home but found that everything was okay regarding Carter.

Sources linked to the singer also claim his ex-girlfriend, a Russian artist, could have been responsible for calling police. They said Valentina had still been living at Carter’s home despite them breaking up.

Sources say she was angry when he apparently asked her to leave on Wednesday, with Carter threatening legal action if Valentina refuses an amicable break up, according to his attorney.

The pair confirmed on social media that they were in a relationship last September.

In a statement announcing their split, Carter said he was really hoping their relationship would ‘be the one that lasted forever’.

‘We had even talked about having kids, but we couldn’t seem to get past our differences and the relationship eventually turned unhealthy. I’ve been through so much the past few years and am trying to learn from my mistakes,’ he said.

MailOnline has contacted a representative for further comment.
