Aaron McAllister opens up FitazFK Gym for late wife Yasmin

The husband of a woman who was tragically killed after she was mowed down by a car has turned her dream of designing a gym into a reality. 

Aaron McAllister and his interior designer wife Yasmin, 27, worked tirelessly for months to launch their own business in Brisbane.

The young woman had drawn up the designs after the pair found the perfect space to open up their gym together in Kangaroo Point.

But her life was cut short just weeks before their first wedding anniversary after she was struck by a car when she was walking to work in Camp Hill in June.

Fighting back tears, Mr McAllister told 7News: ‘I kissed her four times before I left that morning… I left to work early.’

And four months since his her tragic death, the distraught man said he managed to find the strength to ‘keep going’ after fulfilling her dream.

Mr McAllister went on to honor her memory by opening FitazFK Gym after teaming up with his business partner Georgio Batsinilas. 

Making her vision come to life, Mr McAllister wanted to dedicate the gym to his late wife by featuring a large mural of her on the wall, painted by artist Lee Harnden.

‘I definitely think we feel her spirit here,’ he said.

The opening of the gym comes just months after Ms McAllister died in hospital after she suffered severe head trauma in a horrific car accident.

Mr McAllister paid tribute to his ‘princess’, saying ‘thanks for blessing my life with a love that most people will never experience in their whole lifetime.

‘I miss you so much and I know life is gonna be tough without you, but I promise you I will face it head on as that’s what you would have wanted,’ he wrote on Facebook.

‘Nothing is the same for me anymore, I feel like one half of me is gone but somehow you continue to touch me with your spirit and give me direction and comfort.

‘I can’t be angry that you have been taken from me, I can only be grateful that I ever met you. I am thankful that I got to hold you, kiss you, love you and call you my wife.’
