Abbie Chatfield marches for Transgender Day of Visibility

Abbie Chatfield joined her non-binary Neighbours pal Kathleen Ebbs in Sydney on Sunday for the Transgender Day of Visibility march.

The former Bachelor star braved the rain alongside Kathleen as the pair marched from The Hub in Newtown to Victoria Park.

Abbie wore a multi-coloured hoodie and a pair of shorts for the event and accessorised her look with a tote.

The podcast star and Kathleen appeared in good spirits as they raised awareness for transgender issues.

According to The Latch, Trans Day of Visibility takes place on March 31, with events happening around this date.

Additionally, while this day is used to rally against injustices, it’s also to laud gender-diverse identities, their achievements, and their community.

In 2009, the day was created by an activist named Rachel Crandall.

The event was created ‘cause there weren’t enough cultural moments that acknowledged the importance of gender-diverse folks’.

Abbie has been an open advocate of transgender awareness with her recently slamming the show There’s Something About Miriam.

She labelled the show ‘disgusting and transphobic’ in a heated rant.

The British reality series, which was filmed in 2003, featured six men in their twenties who were trying to woo 21-year-old Mexican model Miriam Rivera.

The winner would not only win Miriam’s affection but a cash prize and a cruise.

However, the ‘twist’ was that Miriam was transgender and none of the men knew until the final episode.

Abbie blasted the trash TV show on her podcast It’s A Lot while speaking to Rowdie Walden about the ‘most cooked’ reality television moments.

Abbie became angry as she spoke about the show’s tasteless premise, saying: ‘It was a joke from the producers basically on the contestants, and also on Miriam.

‘The punchline is them being angry and her being embarrassed,’ she continued.

‘Also, there is the implication and the reinforcement of the idea that trans people intentionally deceive people who aren’t queer, or the general population I guess back then, that they are cis, and that is an inherently bad thing.

‘And if you do this it will kick off and that was her punishment. This is so f**king disgusting and so f**ked up. It should be inconsequential if she is cis or trans.’

Before the show aired the contestants sued the production company, alleging a conspiracy to commit sexual assault, defamation, breach of contract and personal injury, claiming they suffered psychological and emotional damage.
