ABC axes prime time TV program in shock decision

The ABC has axed its prime time interview show The ABC Of… after two seasons. 

The show’s host, David Wenham, broke the news on Twitter, writing: ‘Thank you for the wonderful responses to The ABC Of interview series.

‘Sadly the ABC today has decided not to commission the series again’. 

The ABC has used the program to air interviews with Ita Buttrose, Julia Gillard, John Howard and Wendy Harmer.

TV Tonight reported that episodes in the latest season garnered about 300,000 viewers in the capital cities. 

The description for the program read: ‘Famous Australians delve deep into their past to uncover hidden archival gems, exploring how they changed Australia and how Australia changed them.’

Tennis champion Evonne Goolagong Cawley, and comedian Wil Anderson were also some of the guests featured on the series.
