  • Up to 12 female staff made complaints against ABC TV reporter last year
  • The allegations emerged in October and the ABC investigated them
  • The man has reportedly now quit his job and is pursuing new career

An ABC TV reporter has quit after being accused of inappropriate conduct towards 12 colleagues and a senior Labor politician, it was reported on Saturday.

Allegations emerged in October that up to twelve female staff had made complaints against the man for inappropriate behaviour.

One senior Labor politician had reportedly complained about an ‘out of order’ advance at a function in 2017.

The ABC investigated the allegations and the journalist has now left the company and is pursuing a career outside journalism, according to The Weekend Australian.

The publication did not name the journalist but said he declined to comment.

The journalist was not sacked but apparently chose to quit after having a promotion cancelled due to the allegations.

An ABC spokesman said: ‘Any suggestion that (he) has been dismissed from the ABC is wrong.’

None of the women who made the allegations were willing to go on the record when contacted by The Australian.
