ABC newsreader Loretta Lohberger was forced to endure a series of ‘excruciating’ technical difficulties during her 7am bulletin on Wednesday.

The ABC Hobart star was the consummate professional as she dealt with a string of audio problems lasting about 10 minutes.

The first two stories which included a package about former President Donald Trump’s arraignment went off perfectly.

However, by the time the third story was being presented which was about China’s unhappiness about a government Tik-Tok ban, it started.

After Loretta’s introduction, the audio being played was from a story about a fundraiser after a fire at the Don River heritage rail centre in Devonport.

Loretta made her first apologies for the problematic audio.

The newsreader then attempted a story about China’s response to Tik-Tok, but again the incorrect audio was played.

This time a story about a Melbourne woman’s $2.6 million payout for abuse in Victoria’s foster care system aired.

Another story about Chris Minns saw a package about Donald Trump being played to listeners, to Loretta’s surprise.

Another a lengthy pause, Loretta then introduced story about the Coral Princess being docked in Tasmania.

Yet another introduction to a story saw the package cut-off with the ABC theme as Loretta attempted again to get control of the bulletin.

Eventually, the program was switched over to the Victorian bulletin while Hobart attempted to work out what was happening in the control room.

Media commentator Tim Burrowes described the bulletin as ‘the longest 10 minutes of radio I’ve heard,’ on Twitter.

‘The poor presenter of the ABC bulletin in Tasmania had something go wrong with the tech,’ he added.

ABC Hobart breakfast host Ryk Goddard returned after the break to apologise for the technical difficulties.

‘Thank you, Loretta will be encouraged by all your kind messages after that bulletin,’ Goddard said.

‘We’re working out what went on there as quickly as we can and thank you for being understanding, really appreciate it. That’s what we love about local radio — we’re caring people here, we’re not ‘meanie paninis’, as we would describe it in my home.’
