The accused killer of mother-of-three Kelly Wilkinson has been charged with her murder after spending 10 days in an induced coma.
Brian Earl Johnston, 34, was visited by officers in the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital on Friday where he was under police guard.
Johnston’s lawyer Chris Hannay confirmed police had formally charged his client with the murder of Wilkinson, 27.
Hannay instructed his client, who was heavily medicated, to decline to be formally interviewed.

Police charged Ms Wilkinson’s estranged husband Brian Johnston (pictured) with her murder on Friday
‘Police wanted to interview him but we obviously rejected that as he wasn’t in any position to do an interview,’ Hannay told NCA Newswire.
‘He nodded and whispered ‘yes’, and police had informed him he had been charged with murder and he said ‘yes’, but made no comment about it.
‘He (Johnston) is in no fit state to talk and I’ve asked him to contact me when he is.’
Ms Wilkinson’s three children, all aged under nine, were in the home at the time she was allegedly attacked earlier this month.
She is believed to have visited police on two separate occasions before her American husband allegedly set her on fire in Arundel on the Gold Coast.
The victim’s devastated family have claimed that Johnston was controlling and dictated what the 27-year-old wore, how she styled her hair and even banned her from getting a driver’s licence or a job.
Ms Wilkinson met Johnston online a decade ago and shortly after travelled to the US to meet him.
The pair married when she was just 18, before separating a couple of months ago.
