The Italian Cinema Orchestra and CineConcerts ‘Gladiator – In Concert’ show was held at the Parco Archeologico del Colosseo in Rome.
He appeared to swap his signature Hollywood style at the screening by boasting a bushy grey beard.
While he was affectionately labelled ‘Russell the Muscle’ after his starring role in the 2000 Roman epic, the New-Zealand born star also sported a noticeably fuller figure.
Russell has recently purposely gained weight for his role in new film, Boy Erased.

Looking different from his sword-wielding days, he wore a suave blue suit with a maroon tie.
His brunette locks were slicked back from his face as he appeared in high spirits at the function.
Former Gladiator co-star Connie Nielsen also attended the charity screening.

The Danish actress, 52, looked stunning as ever, showcasing a glowing complexion beside Russell.
Connie, who played Lucilla in the movie, placed her blonde locks up in a stylish up do, while she sported a black gown with semi-sheer cape sleeves.
The A-List stalwart also posed with AS Roma’s former player Francesco Totti.
Russel was presented with an A.S Roma football jersey with his Gladiator character;’s name printed on the back, as he proudly held up the item at the event.

Russell, who finalised his divorce from wife Danielle Spencer in April after splitting in 2013, recently sold $3.7 million worth of Hollywood memorabilia and personal items in his ‘The Art of Divorce’ auction in Sydney in April.
Russell and Danielle – who share two children, Tennyson and Charles – reportedly finalised their divorce in the middle of last year.
The Sunday Telegraph claimed that Danielle walked away from the marriage with ‘$20million in the bank’ and ownership of their $11million Rose Bay mansion.
