Actors in Shane Warne series ended up in hospital with injuries after a sex scene went wrong

The lead actors in Channel 9’s new Shane Warne docuseries ended up in hospital after a sex scene went wrong.

Marny Kennedy, who plays the late cricketer’s ex-wife Simone Callahan, told The Daily Telegraph that shooting for the miniseries in Melbourne wasn’t all smooth sailing.

After one particular bedroom scene went horribly wrong, they were both rushed to hospital and neither of them came out unscathed.

Marny left the emergency room with a broken wrist, and Alex Williams, who plays the protagonist in the telemovie called Warnie, cracked the back of his head open.

Explaining how the incident happen, the actress said: ‘We were going down a corridor and we were meant to push into the bedroom and land on the bed, but we both completely missed the bed.’

‘We ended up sitting in the emergency room together, he with a bandage around his head and me with my wrist strapped.’

The Warnie actress explained that it was a hospital for the elderly, so the two of them being dressed in their Shane and Simone costumes was a funny sight to see, so they decided to snap a selfie together.

She added: ‘It was just Alex and I with our bleached hair, fully still in wardrobe, sitting there surrounded by elderly residents.’

However, the actors, who have been friends for a decade, eventually found the funny side of the situation.

They got personalised mugs made with their ER photo on it for the whole crew to celebrate their last day of filming.

The cricketer died just over a year ago in March 2022 of a suspected heart attack while on holiday in Thailand.

Just six months after his death, the network confirmed that it was producing a two-part miniseries about Warne’s life, however, it was reported that production on the series began just three weeks after his death.

After the trailer first aired, many viewers took to Twitter to share their disappointment with Channel Nine.

One person said: ‘Are Channel Nine taking the p**s with the Warnie miniseries. That promo was s**thouse, embarrassing and disgraceful. Let him rest in peace.’

While another wrote: ‘Does anyone else think it’s too soon for a Warnie show on? He hasn’t even been gone for 15 months, and already the show seems filmed and ready to release.

‘How quickly after his passing did someone go, ”yep it’s time to make a show on his life?”

The miniseries was filmed in the late cricketer’s home of Melbourne, and it tells a dramatised version of the Spin King’s remarkable sporting career and rise to fame, including his marriage to ex-wife Simone Callahan.

Shane’s eldest daughter Brooke, 24, previously called Nine’s announcement of a telemovie based on her father ‘beyond disrespectful’, as he spent 23 years as a commentator for the network’s cricket coverage.

‘Do any of you have any respect for dad? Or his family?’ she wrote on Instagram.

‘He did so much for Channel Nine and now you want to dramatise his life and our family’s life six months after he passed away? You are beyond disrespectful.’

According to Nine, the 9Network and Screentime met with the Warne family during pre-production and they have since changed their tune and now support the series.
