Adam Driver revisits his role as Kylo Ren as he returns to Death Star for Undercover Boss SNL skit

Adam Driver recently nabbed his second Oscar nomination for his dramatic performance in Marriage Story.

But he served more than a few laughs over the weekend when he hosted Saturday Night Live for the third time, the first episode of 2020.

He fulfilled his hosting duties while Halsey filled in as the musical guest for the fourth time, most recently pulling double duty as host last February.

Classic: On this week’s Saturday Night Live, host Adam Driver revived his Undercover Boss parody from his first SNL hosting gig in 2016, in which he played Kylo Ren going undercover on the Death Star

This time, he posed as an intern named Randy, who quickly gave away his identity after killing an obnoxious admiral and blowing up a faulty printer with his mind.

He almost redeemed himself when he attempted to promote a female intern to a pilot (as the death star is apparently behind the times).

But when she revealed she strives to be like Luke Skywalker, not Kylo Ren, he stabbed her with his lightsaber.

Earlier in the show, Driver poked some fun at himself as he attempted to prove he could be chill, unlike most of his characters, ‘Adam from Girls, Kylo Ren from the space one.’

He also revealed that he knows he’s bad at smiling on red carpets, ‘like a kidnap victim trying to send a message.’

The actor then managed to drag his Marriage Story co-star and her SNL fiancé: ‘I’m in a movie with Scarlett Johansson, so I basically kissed Colin Jost if you think about it.’

Driver then served some laughs as a dad at sleepover who had to have a talk with the girls after a sanitary pad stopped up the toilet.

Kate McKinnon then came downstairs as Megan, sporting soaked pajamas and dishevelled hair while trying to keep inconspicuous.

After Driver explained the damage in excruciating detail, which involved soaking up the water with coats and painting a doorknob to appear as a wall, the rest of the girls claimed responsibility in a Spartacus-esque moment.

The host played Del Taco’s VP of branding in one skit, in which Beck Bennett directed Kyle Mooney in a commercial for the fast food chain.

Bennett and Driver both began getting frustrated with how Mooney was saying one line, shouting directions at him.

In attempt to nail the shoot, they tried to get him to loosen up, telling him to shake it off and drop his pants in a bizarre display.

Driver then played Professor Zachary Adams in The Science Room, an ‘80s style after school show, featuring Cecily Strong and Mikey Day as awkward students with a severe misunderstanding of his teachings.

At one point, he asks what always comes first in the lab, to which Strong responds: ‘My older sister says the guy always comes first.’

Their pubescent minds and lack of attention spans quickly drive him to lash out, throwing things and calling them stupid.

Before giving her first performance, Halsey appeared in a sexy music video alongside Heidi Gardner and Ego Nwodim.

They were serenaded by Chris Redd, Kenan Thompson, and Driver, who used a comically low voice to sing about how they like it slow.

But it was apparently too slow, as the women lost patient and got ready for bed by the time they arrived.

And when they did decide to throw the guys a bone, it ended much more quickly than they had anticipated.

Halsey then took the stage to perform her track You Should Be Sad from her latest album Manic.

She wore a black stetson and matching risqué lingerie as she rode a mechanical bull before her cowboy backup dancers pulled it away and joined her.

During Weekend Update, Melissa Villaseñor seemed to get the most laughs as she performed songs inspired by the Oscar nominated films, appropriately chalking them up to ‘white male rage.’

In a skit set at the popular family friendly establishment Medieval Times, Alex Moffatt, Redd and Driver played the knight actors.

He got a bit carried away with his Game of Thrones level performance, calling the princess a ‘whore’ and attempting to shoot a trained falcon with an arrow, before being called off the floor by the manager.
