It was a memorable day for Canadian golf on Sunday – for more reasons than one – as Adam Hadwin was tackled as he tried celebrating the victory of friend Nick Taylor.
Taylor became the first Canuck to take the Canadian Open crown in 69 years – but as Hadwin ran onto the green to celebrate with his friend, he was tackled by security.
Earlier that day, Hadwin signed off on his scorecard – seeing him finishing tied for 12th at eleven under par.
But as he rushed the green to joyously take part in the ceremony, spraying Taylor with champagne, he was tackled before being told that he wasn’t a specatator.
Hadwin’s wife, Jessica, took the opportunity to make fun of her husband as he recuperated following his outing at the Oakdale Golf & Country Club in Toronto.

‘Sorry to leave y’all hanging, had to get the toddler ready for bed,’ Jessica wrote on Twitter, referencing to their 3-year-old daughter, Maddox.
‘I’m thrilled to report that @ahadwingolf is still among the land of the living and in true Canadian form, apologized to the security guard for being tackled.’
She also delighted in the multiple different camera shots of Hadwin being brought to the ground, saying, ‘Omg I can’t handle these different angles.
‘The security guard’s laser focus on his target. Adam’s commitment to the giant bottle of champagne. So many things to take in with every new POV.’
In another Instagram story post, Jessica added, ‘Also to everyone in my messages, he is alive and (maybe) well!’
Jessica continued with the jokes of the viral moment in interactions with other users.
After Jessica shared a meme of a monkey on a flip phone, writing, ‘Me ready to call Adam and ask why he is looking at someone else so much like that,’someone replied, ‘Security on 18 just tackled Adam on your behalf lol.’
Jessica responded, writing ‘What can I say. I’ve got connections.’
