A drunken footy fan has been slapped with a hefty fine for disrupting a football match by running onto the field in the middle of a game.

Jeremy Grant Cortvriend, 29, was convicted in the Adelaide Magistrates Court and fined almost $3,000 on Friday for intentionally invading a footy match last month.

The court said the fine was meant to deter others from imitating his actions, which put the lives of all those at the field that day in significant danger, reports The Advertiser.

Contvriend, who was present at court in a Port Adelaide tie, pleaded for leniency and argued that he did not perform a ‘nudie run.’

‘Can I just say, if it helps, that I wasn’t nude?’ he said in defense, the publication reports.

‘I didn’t do a nudie run.’

However, he did admit to being drunk on the day and told the court that he had consumed ‘about 12 pints’ of alcohol just before the game.

Contvriend also told the waiting media outside that did not regret any of his actions.

He also said the real reason he disrupted the game was to help the players ‘kick a goal’.
