An Adelaide man will face court next week after allegedly sexually assaulting a woman at a public pool. 

Police allege the 60-year-old taxi driver sexually assaulted the much younger 27-year-old woman while she was asleep in a spa at the Adelaide Aquatic Centre.

Authorities were called to the public pool in Adelaide at 5.30pm on Sunday after the woman called police.

The woman fell asleep in the spa while other people were around,9 News reported.  

The alleged assault was caught on CCTV footage, police said. 

The defendant appeared before Adelaide Magistrates Court on Monday afternoon. 

He applied for bail, which was denied due to the opportunistic and brazen nature of the crime. The man, from Adelaide’s northeastern suburbs, remains behind bars. 

Adelaide City Council said they are working together with the SA Police to assist their investigation into the incident. 

The taxi driver is set to appear in court again next week.
