Dressed in a brown leather jacket and orange polo neck, Adele is also seen sitting inside the house as Xavier repositions her ready to start shooting.

Xavier and Adele renuited for the Easy On Me video, five years after collaborating on the singer’s 2015 video Hello.

Adele captioned the snaps: ‘My big, always and forever love, my creative soul mate @xavierdolan ♥️.’

It’s been revealed that Easy On Me has already shifted 70,000 copies in the first 48 hours of its release and is outperforming the whole UK Top Ten combined, with the track looking certain to hit the top spot on Friday.

The singer’s closest competitor and current number one, Sir Elton John and Dua Lipa’s collaboration, Cold Heart, sold 64,000 copies in seven days according to the latest chart figures.

Easy On Me is expected to have the biggest opening week for a song on the Official Singles Chart this year.

Speaking as the video, which has been streamed on YouTube over 62.4million times, and single were released on Friday, Xavier told Just Jared that he had always been ‘hoping’ to reunite with the superstar.

‘For me, there’s nothing stronger than artists reconnecting after years apart. I’ve changed. Adele’s changed,’ he explained.

Reflecting on the fact that the video begins in the same house the duo used to shoot the video for Hello, he continued: ‘And this is an opportunity to celebrate how we’ve both evolved, and how we’ve also both remained faithful to our dearest themes. It’s all the same, but different.’

The single will be followed by Adele’s upcoming fourth studio album, 30, set to be released on November 19.

But despite yet more success, Adele has insisted she plans to step back from making music eventually.

Adele – who has an eight-year-old son, Angelo, with ex-husband Simon Konecki – told Greg James on the BBC Radio 1 Breakfast Show: ‘I won’t be doing this forever.

‘I don’t want to do this forever and also people won’t want me to do it forever.’

Greg disagreed that people won’t want new Adele music and the ‘Skyfall’ singer quipped: ‘[Nobody wants to see me] when I’m 95 or hear me whining or chain-smoking, living like a ‘Grey Gardens’ character with all my cats, being eaten alive.’

The ‘Rolling in the Deep’ hitmaker – whose last studio album was 2015’s ’25’ – also revealed that some of her ‘closest friends’ were brutally honest with their feedback for her new music, which is all about her painful divorce from the 47-year-old charity boss.

She said: ‘I sent a snippet of me singing it as I was writing it to three of my closest friends here. One didn’t like it, the other one was like, ”Well, yeah, maybe, keep trying though.’

‘That was the perfect response for me. I’m such a knee-jerk person. I’ll be like, ‘I don’t like it, forget it!’ I’m like that with my music.

‘I’m like that with just things I want to do. I’m like that with my feelings and stuff and I think it was clear to them [her friends] in the lyrics that I’ve bided my time and I wasn’t reacting to a reaction or anything like that.

‘It was just a feeling that I had stirred on for a while.’
