Adele’s long-awaited return to the stage was recorded as part of an ITV special, titled An Audience With Adele, which will be broadcast on Sunday November 21.

A guest told The Sun: ‘Adele was playful and fun on stage but you could tell she was feeling the pressure.

‘She sounded better than ever but there were a couple of false starts throughout the evening, whether that be because of tech issues or her nerves.’

They added: ‘But it was an absolutely incredible event – there wasn’t a dry eye in the house. You can understand why it could be emotional singing these deeply personal songs following such a difficult time in her private life.’

The paper also reported that the Grammy-winning artist’s close friend Alan Carr joined her on stage and even had a go at singing her track Make You Feel My Love, much to the delight of the crowd.

Guests also had their phones ‘confiscated’ so no recordings could be made ahead of the special’s TV release.

Another concert-goer told the paper that mother-of-one Adele was ‘really emotional’ to be back on stage and noted her new songs are ‘incredibly raw’.
