These photographs captured the moment adorable harvest mice came out to play in the sunshine.

The heart-warming snaps captured a rare glimpse of the mice – which measure just 55mm long – nestled in freshly-bloomed tulip heads.

The mice are owned by amateur photographer Alex Meek, 31, who runs workshops for people to come and look at the minuscule mammals.

The NHS records assistant said: ‘After all the snow and rain the little mice were desperate to get out and have an adventure.

‘They love climbing inside of flowers and fruit and it certainly makes a lovey image.

‘They sit curled up in flowers and peep out from the petals which in turn create fabulous images.

‘Seeing the mice in flowers shows people just how tiny they are.

‘Harvest mice don’t hibernate but they do prefer the milder weather so they can get out and explore.’

Mr Meek said that his furry friends are hard to find in the wild and so he initially bought them just to observe them.

Most of Mr Meek’s photos of the mice are taken either in his conservatory or his back garden where he lives with his parents in Scarborough, North Yorkshire.
