A breathtaking set of photographs taken from a helicopter have captured London’s stadiums, parks and skyscrapers.
Photographer Jason Hawkes has flown over the capital weekly for the past 20 years where he has taken aerial shots for architects and global brands.
And as 2019 draws to a close, Jason has selected his favourite views of the capital this year including the Houses of Parliament, Canary Wharf and Piccadilly Lights.
From the top of the 656ft HSBC building, to the manicured lawns of Buckingham Palace, Jason reveals the capital at its finest.

Late afternoon sun glimmers on Buckingham Palace and The Mall as the autumnal trees frame the grounds. Located in the City of Westminster, the palace is the London residence of the Queen and is often the centre of state occasions and royal hospitality
The newly-completed view of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in north London which replaces the preview stadium White Hart Lane. The name ‘Tottenham Hotspur Stadium’ is temporary with the intention for it to be named after a sponsor. It has a capacity of 62,303 making it the largest club stadium in London
The 95-storey skyscraper known as The Shard was opened in October 2013 and stands at 988ft. It was designed by the Italian architect Renzo Piano and lies south of the river in Southwark
Principal Place at the eastern end of Worship Street, Shoreditch and Liverpool Street Station in the City of London. In the distance is 30 St Mary Axe, know as The Gherkin, which was opened in April 2004 and lies in the heart of the City of London
A summer view over Kensington Palace and Gardens and Hyde Park which is nestled between Kensington and Knightsbridge. Kensington Palace is home to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and their children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis
The Millennium Bridge stretches over the River Thames and is a steel suspension footbridge linking Bankside with the City of London. It was officially opened by the Queen on June 10 2000 with around 80,000 people taking their first steps on the bridge on its opening day
Dawn looking east on South Dock at Canary Wharf, Isle of Dogs. The image shows the construction of Landmark Pinnacle, a 764ft skyscraper which is set to be the tallest residential building in Europe. Newfoundland Quay (left) is also under construction and is set over 60 floors

A view from the bustling Trafalgar Square and National Gallery, Charing Cross. Its name commemorates the Battle of Trafalgar, a British naval victory in the Napoleonic Wars in 1805 off the coast of Cape Trafalgar. The square is home to Nelson’s column which stands at 170.6ft and was constructed between 1840 and 1843 to honour Admiral Horatio Nelson, who died during the battle
A view from the pinnacle of St Paul’s Cathedral which is as awe-inspiring today as it was when architect Sir Christopher Wren finished it 300 years ago. The Golden Gallery allows visitors to get a view of the city reached by 528 steps
A view of Wembley Park and Wembley Stadium, Brent. The stadium opened in 2007 on the site of the original stadium – which was demolished between 2002 and 2003. It hosts major football matches including the FA Cup final and international games for England
A colourful set of houses in a Mews in Paddington. Mews houses were originally intended to stable horses with upstairs accommodation for servants and were built between the 18th and 19th century. They are usually found tucked behind grand mansions
People gather at Somerset House on the Strand to watch an outdoor screening. The Georgian building is designed in a quadrangle and hosts events such as London Fashion Week
Centre Court in Wimbledon, south London, which is home to the oldest tennis tournament in the world. The 2020 Wimbledon Championships will commence on Monday 29 June
The Palace of Westminster is home to the House of Commons and the House of Lords. The Elizabeth Tower, known as Big Ben, is seen under construction and on August 21 2017, Big Ben fell silent for the first time. It is part of a four-year renovation plan which will include the addition of a lift
The BBC’s London base in White City is seen here – a location at which generations of Britain’s best-loved television shows, including Blue Peter, Doctor Who and Top of the Pops were once filmed. The former BBC headquarters was built in the 1950s and included 400 offices, 600 dressing rooms, seven studios and even its own telephone exchange
The Coca-Cola London Eye is located near Waterloo station on the south of the River Thames. It stands at 443ft and the wheel has a diameter of 394ft. When it opened in the year 2000 it was the world’s tallest Ferris wheel
A view from the top of One Blackfriars, Southwark, which is informally known as The Vase or The Boomerang due to its shape. The 50-storey tower stands at 558ft and is home to 274 apartments with a golf simulator room and wine cellar
A canal snakes through Little Venice which lies just north of Paddington. It is positioned where the Grand Union Canal and Regent’s Canal meet and is filled with waterside cafes and riverboats
