AFL 2023: Sam Newman shows off his deep tan at Glamour on the Grid

AFL great Sam Newman shows off his deep tan at Glamour on the Grid ahead of the F1 Australian Grand Prix

AFL legend Sam Newman showed off his noticeably dark tan as he attended a star-studded Grand Prix event in Melbourne on Wednesday.

The 77-year-old attended the Glamour on the Grid party at the Albert Park circuit ahead of the highly anticipated 2023 Australian Formula One.

Despite a plethora of glitz on the carpet, Sam kept things casual in a pair of dark-wash jeans, a V-neck T-shirt and a black blazer.

He completed his laid-back look with checkered Vans sneakers.

He showed off a slightly more sun-kissed look than usual as he posed in front of the media wall, which suggests he may have recently topped up his fake tan.

The former Geelong player is no stranger to enhancing his look, and has admitted to getting Botox and a nose job in the past.

He even got injections on TV during a segment on The Footy Show back in 2007.

‘See those wrinkles there, will they be gone next week?’ Sam asked the cosmetic doctor, referring to the lines on his forehead.

He underwent Botox on air once again in 2012, telling his Footy Show co-hosts the doctor did a ‘great job’ when he was unable to frown.

In addition to showing off a wrinkle-free visage, the former footy star spoke candidly on his You Cannot Be Serious podcast two years ago about undergoing plastic surgery after breaking his nose.

He revealed that in addition to undergoing rhinoplasty, the doctor had also tightened up his face with questionable results.

‘He made me look like a Manx cat for six years. My eyes went up like the star of I Dream of Jeannie,’ he admitted.
