AFL commentator Barry Hall has been sacked within hours of making vulgar on-air comments about a former player’s wife on Friday night’s radio broadcast.
The former star was commentating during Triple M’s pre-game show with St Kilda legend Leigh Montagna when he made an offensive comment regarding Montagna’s wife Erinn.
The panel was discussing the fact she had undergone a ‘sweep’, a manual technique used by medical professionals to try to induce labour, The Age reported.

Hall ‘joked’ that the male doctor behaved in a sexually inappropriate way, which sparked laughter from the other panelists.
Hall was sacked before the game between the Western Bulldogs and Geelong Cats had finished.
‘Tonight on Triple M Football there were unacceptable and inappropriate comments made by a member of the commentary team,’ the station’s head of content Mike Fitzpatrick said in a statement.
‘The commentator was removed immediately from the broadcast and an apology was issued on air afterwards.
‘Immediate action was taken with the termination of employment for one team member.’

Social media into meltdown following Hall’s vile on-air comments, with many expressing their disgust.
‘Okay, so I never want to hear or see Barry Hall on radio, television, or anything, ever again. Ever,’ one user wrote.
Hall played for St Kilda, Sydney Swans and the Western Bulldogs during his 289-game career.
He met partner, former Hi-5 performer Lauren Brant on the 2015 series of I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here.
The couple welcomed a son last year.
