AGT: Glennis Grace makes it to next round after thinking she was out

Singer Glennis Grace could not contain her language as she went through the full range of emotions on America’s Got Talent.

The single mom had nodded sadly and started walking offstage after assuming she was out as comedian Samuel J Comroe celebrated getting through to the semi-finals.

But host Tyra Banks, 44, quickly stopped her exit, telling her excitedly: ‘Oh my gosh — did you hear what I said? I said BOTH of you!’

Realizing she had misheard and was actually joining Samuel in the next round, Glennis, 40, walked back to the front of the stage staring straight at the audience with clear shock and joy.

‘Really? What the f***!’ Glennis could be seen mouthing, before holding her head in her hands and wandering around the stage in shock.

After Tyra — in a stunning sparkly gold jumpsuit — finally held her hand and brought her back to the center, Glennis, the mother of a 12-year-old boy, said: ‘Oh my God! I’m so stupid! Oh my God, I’m so sorry!’

The judges poked fun at her unexpected cursing. Asked for his advice for her moving forward, Howie Mandel said: ‘Watch your language!’

‘Yes, young lady!’ Mel B teased her, with Tyra asking if she had said a ‘swear-jar word’ and Glennis insisting: ‘I can’t remember!’

With one seven of the 12 who performed live on Monday getting through, most acts realized that only one of those called forward at a time would prevail, explaining Glennis’s confusion as she saw Samuel celebrating at the announcement undoubtedly drowned out by audience cheering.

‘This is insane,’ insisted Samuel, a comedian with Tourette’s syndrome, adding: ‘Yo, a year ago I was performing in a college cafeteria for one dude eating a pepperoni pizza. This is a dream come true, thank you!’

The show also made history with the closest ever Dunkin’ Saves live vote on the night, with Tyra revealing there was ‘just 0.1 percent difference between the top two’ out of dance crew Da RepubliK, virtual reality showmen Front Pictures, and teenage singer Makayla Phillips.

‘This is crazy, this is like a bad joke it really is because all three of these acts are so deserving,’ Howie said. ‘This is how high the bar has been set this season.’

The decision ultimately went to Makayla Phillips, who fell to her knees and joked: ‘I’m 16 and my pants are so tight I can’t breathe.’

She added: ‘I feel so blessed right now for all of you, and my family and everyone.’

She had been the golden buzzer pick for Heidi, who told her: ‘Literally I was crossing my fingers, my toes, everything. That you America for voting — you deserve to be here.’

Da RepubliK were then left in tears of joy as they got the final semis spot of the night after all but Howie picked them to go through ahead of Front Pictures, with Heidi saying: ‘This part is the worst part of the show when you have to pick between two acts that you love.’

‘Da RepubliK, you wow me every single time,’ Mel told them, while Simon said: ‘I’m not going to say this was your best performance, because it wasn’t, but I do love your passion and your enthusiasm.’

Trapeze act Duo Transcend had made the biggest gamble of Monday’s second quarterfinal, repeating a trick that had gone terrifyingly wrong in the Judge Cuts round — leaving Mary Wolfe plummeting to the ground after she slipped through husband Tyce Nielsen’s hands.

Their daring repeat paid off, however, as they got the last of five spots in the semis awarded to this group from viewers’ votes, with Mary bursting into tears and jumping into her husband’s arms at the announcement.

‘I just don’t know what to say because everyone who performed last night they were so talented, everyone was amazing, and we love them all so much,’ Mary said. ‘So I’d say thank you to all of them for letting us be a part of this. You all are amazing.’

Mel told them: ‘Clearly America loves you and what you do is an art form. And you killed it last night!’

Their success meant the end of the show for The Sacred Riana, the magic act with a woman dressed like a girl in a horror movie who had scared the judges so much that Simon even put a series of technical mishaps down to her cursing the show.

‘Thank God she’s gone,’ Mel admitted after being left genuinely terrified by Riana, whose exit also saw Simon holding his fingers in a cross shape.

Yumbo Dump, the Japanese duo who made funny noises with their bellies, seemed to have luck on their side after both Simon and Mel took back their ‘X’ buzzes Monday night to get them off saying a skit pretending to be dolphins in love changed their minds.

But their lucky escape did not extend to the viewers’ votes, with the pair first to be sent home, along with dancers Quin and Misha.

Howie — a notorious germaphobe — had been showing getting his own belly out to rub against one of them backstage, grimacing as he complained: ‘He was sweating!’

Simon insisted: ‘You can feel the reaction in the room tonight. They’re adorable, they make you feel good, really talented — I think we may see you guys in the finals, I really do believe that.’

The previous evening had been one plagued by technical woes, with Simon telling Tyra: ‘I haven’t recovered. Honest to God Tyra, in all the years I’ve been doing this, this is one of the nutty, nuttiest craziest shows I’ve ever done. Yes, there were some great moments, but the whole night was bizarre.’

Referring to The Sacred Riana, he again insisted: ‘And I’m blaming it on one person who’s standing there in the back in red and white.’
