Ainsley Maitland-Niles has taken to Instagram to hit out at Arsenal amid reports they have rejected Everton’s bid to sign him on loan for the season.

Rafa Benitez is interested in bringing the 24-year-old in at Goodison Park but as news began to surface that Arsenal had snubbed interest from The Toffees, Maitland-Niles took matters into his own hands.

‘All I wanna do is go where I’m wanted and where I’m gonna play @arsenal’,’ he wrote alongside three crying emojis.

Maitland-Niles came on as a substitute in Arsenal’s 5-0 thrashing by Manchester City at the weekend and started the 6-0 win against West Brom in the League Cup last week.

But he is looking to join Benitez’s Everton revolution, with the Spaniard hoping to sign him on loan for the season with an option to buy.

Maitland-Niles’ outburst is yet more bad news for under-fire Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, whose side are bottom of the Premier League table with three defeats from their opening three Premier League matches.

Arteta is likely to have opted to keep Maitland-Niles at the Gunners as he assesses the options at his disposal in an attempt to kick-start their season after the international break.

Everton, meanwhile, have made an encouraging start under Benitez – whose appointment was opposed by a number of Blues due to his previous work as Liverpool manager.

Saturday’s 2-0 win away to Brighton means Everton are joint second with seven points from their first three matches.

Benitez is trying hard to bring in a number of new faces to freshen his squad up before the window closes on Tuesday.

As well as Maitland-Niles, Everton have also been linked with signing Salomon Rondon on a free transfer. The former Newcastle forward has worked with Benitez in the Chinese Super League.

But their efforts to sign Rangers defender Nathan Patterson appear to have hit a roadblock. An £8m bid was rejected by Steven Gerrard and the right-back has since been forced into isolation.
