Air hostess, 32, says she shocks passengers due to her uncanny similarity to Meghan Markle

An air hostess who calls herself the ‘next best thing’ to Meghan Markle has revealed her plans to audition to play the Duchess in a new film.

Christine Primrose Mathis, 32, from Perth Amboy, New Jersey, first started receiving comments five years ago while Meghan Markle, now 38, was starring in Suits.

The mother-of-one revealed that she decided to cash in on their similarities when Meghan was catapulted into the global spotlight following her engagement to Prince Harry, in 2017, and became a part-time lookalike.

Christine, who has since done photoshoots and is currently auditioning to play the royal in a film, called the job ‘a dream’, revealing: ‘A lot of people look up to her and because they can’t get in direct contact with her, I guess I’m the next best thing.’

But she remained tight-lipped over how much she has earned from impersonating Meghan and did not say whether the move to Los Angeles has changed her prospects.

Christine revealed how her likeness to Meghan was first spotted years ago, before the Duchess joined the royal family.

She said: ‘Five years ago I was working in first-class as a flight attendant and passengers would say, “Hey, you look like that girl from Suits” every so often.’

‘I could see the resemblance but I just brushed it off but when Meghan and Harry got engaged, that’s when I started hearing it a lot more often.’

But as Meghan’s fame grew, Christine got more comparisons, because she sports the same dark brunette locks and glowing skin as the royal.

And with her brunette wavy locks, natural glowing complexion and her own glittering tiara, it’s no surprise that strangers take a double glance.

During a visit to London, Christine was bombarded with people who were shocked to learn that she wasn’t the real Meghan, and on her return to the States she signed up for a modelling agency.

Since then, she has been flown out to LA for a photoshoot, had video requests from fans and is planning on auditioning for a new movie to play the role of Meghan Markle.

She revealed: ‘At first, I was confused but I definitely took it as a compliment because I thought she was so beautiful.

‘Last year, I signed up with a lookalike agency because after they got married, it became a lot more frequent.’

But her similarities to Meghan haven’t been all good, with Christine revealing how some people have criticised her online over the likeness.

She said: ‘Social media can be cruel; I’ve had people comment that I’m trying to be her or that my hair and make-up is the same.

‘I feel like I’ve always done my hair like that. I try to ignore the people who are being mean.’

The mother-of-one added: ‘One time, I was coming back from a photoshoot in LA and an airport worker was so excited because she thought I was Meghan Markle but then she saw my passport and got embarrassed, but I just find it funny’.

Christine explained: ‘I posted a TikTok where I dressed like Meghan Markle and people couldn’t believe the resemblance.

‘I have had a lot more opportunities from looking like her; she’s so famous.’

She added: ‘I think most of my following comes from people thinking I am Meghan Markle but at the same time I hope they also like my personality.

‘Hopefully I can get some corporate work and TV work. I’ve been acting since I was very young and I’m working on getting an audition with my agent. That would be the absolute dream.’

Christine has said working as a Meghan-lookalike is a 'dream' job, but admitted she sometimes receives criticism on social media over emphasising their similarities
