ITV boss Kevin Lygo explained in March that the secret to the show’s success will be to resurrect Big Brother’s winning formula from its heyday.

He said: ‘The key to Big Brother is to keep it like it was in its golden period – to have it more interesting, intelligent, upmarket etc. than other reality shows. It’s a great addition to have in the autumn period.’

Big Brother, who shot the likes of This Morning host Alison Hammond, TV presenter Kate Lawler and the late Jade Goody to stardom, will return later this year on ITV2 and streaming platform ITVX following a five-year hiatus.
