Tottenham have pulled off one of the greatest comebacks in Champions League history after wiping out a three-goal deficit to book a meeting in the final with Liverpool.

The hosts scored two first-half goals to stretch their aggregate lead to 3-0 but Lucas Moura bagged a hat-trick to make it an instant-classic in Europe’s elite club competition.

Ajax (4-2-3-1)

Andre Onana – 5

Did what he had to with minimum fuss in first half but error just before Moura’s second. That proved costly.

Noussair Mazraoui – 6

Forced Son to change flanks for period in first half, so in command was he. Son had the better of him after break though.

Matthijs de Ligt – 7

Brilliant early goal, carbon copy of winner at Juventus. But he looked like a teenager during Spurs onslaught.

Daley Blind – 6

Stepped out of defence with ease and confidence on occasions but was sloppy on others and was fragile late on.

Nicolas Tagliafico – 6

You can see why Premier League clubs have looked at Argentine – he’s quick and aggressive – but was run ragged second half.

Lasse Schone – 6.5

The old man but he keeps youngsters in check. Never wasted a pass in first half but was sacrificed early in second as Spurs caught fire.

Donny van de Beek – 6.5

Populated space in No 10 role and repeatedly played probing passes first half, although his influence quickly waned.

Frenkie de Jong – 7

Brilliant early challenge to deny Alli as he burst through. Effortless in keeping possession and always progressive passing.

Kasper Dolberg (right) was sloppy at times and his eventual withdrawal was cheered by fans

Kasper Dolberg – 5

Late inclusion after injury to Neres in warm-up. Sloppy at times and his eventual withdrawal was cheered by home fans.

Hakim Ziyech – 8.5

Warning signs were there before sweet finish for second goal. A class act. Spurs could not handle Moroccan.

Dusan Tadic – 7.5

A threat from the off and looked better on left wing as opposed to false nine. Nearly scored twice in first half and assisted for second goal.

SUBSTITUTES

Veltman 6 (for Schone 58)

Sinkgraven 6 (for Dolberg 67)

Magallan (for Van de Beek 90)

Manager: Erik Ten Hag – 5

His team did what they do best in first half but looked nervy and complacent in second. He had no answers.

Tottenham (4-2-3-1)

Hugo Lloris – 7

Early flying save from Ziyech and did well to sort feet from couple of dubious back passes. Crucial stop at 2-2.

Kieran Trippier – 5.5

Lost De Ligt for opener and struggled against Tadic. Offered more after break but still a shadow of World Cup displays.

Toby Alderweireld – 6.5

Like Vertonghen he recovered from a whirlwind opening and the pair looked more comfortable as game wore on.

Jan Vertonghen – 7

Shaky first half as Ajax midfield flooded forward but got a handle on things to steady the defence.

Danny Rose was Spurs’ best attacking outlet at times and drove them forward from deep

Danny Rose – 7.5

Was Spurs’ best attacking outlet at times and drove them forward from deep. Lively and aggressive.

Victor Wanyama – 5

Could not get to grips with Ajax movement and was no surprise to see him hooked at half-time after torrid first half.

Dele Alli – 7

Grew into the game after poor start where, like Eriksen, he looked shot. Ajax were worried by his subtle touches and movement second half.

Christian Eriksen – 6

Weak effort straight at keeper at 0-0 and looked tired and low on confidence. But played his part in comeback.

Lucas Moura (centre) put in a man of the match performance with a second-half hat-trick

Moussa Sissoko – 8

Ran around when things weren’t going well and that kept Spurs at it as team-mates threatened to fade. A powerful display.

Lucas Moura – 9.5

Won it with brilliant second-half treble and he terrified Ajax after interval. Outstanding and inspirational performance. MOM.

Son Heung-min – 7

Hit the post early on but was subdued until finding his confidence after the break and causing problems.

SUBSTITUTES

Llorente 7 (for Wanyama 46)

Lamela (for Trippier 81)

Davies (for Rose 83)

Manager: Mauricio Pochettino – 8

Whatever he said at half-time had the desired effect and introduction of Llorente with Moura switching wide changed dynamic.

Referee: Felix Brych (GER) – 7

Was not consistent in award of first-half bookings but kept fast and fiery contest in check.
