An Alabama teenager was brought before a judge for the first time on Tuesday after he was arrested for allegedly molesting a horse on multiple occasions.

Authorities said that 18-year-old Daniel Bennett of Irvington is awaiting trial following his Tuesday arraignment at the Mobile Merto Courthouse for the bestial act.

According to WPMI-TV, the owner of the 20-year-old steed found Bennett in her barn on Thursday.

Upon being discovered on the premises, Bennett allegedly told owner Francine Janes that ‘he wanted to pet the horse.’

Janes told the local broadcaster that her husband held the suspected trespasser at gunpoint until police arrived.

When authorities came to arrest Bennett, they allegedly found him wearing a trench coat and in possession of a ‘burglar’s tool.’

Janes said that she believes this isn’t the first time Bennett had come to spend time with her horse, Polly, explaining that she had found evidence in the stall multiple times throughout the month of December.

‘I would say seven maybe 10 times,’ Janes told WPMI. ‘Toilet paper had been left. The hay stacks had been removed. Items had been turned over. And that’s as far as I want to go.’

A police warrant states that Bennett was arrested for the crime of bestiality, listed as a misdemeanor, alleging that he ‘engaged in or submitted to any sexual contact with an animal, to-wit: a horse,’ AL.com reported.

Bennett was also charged with possession of burglar’s tools and second-degree criminal trespassing.  Bennett is scheduled to appear in court on January 18.
