One of Aldi Australia’s most popular seasonal buys is set to hit the centre aisle on Wednesday – but shoppers will have to be quick if they want one.
The famous 24-piece Lou Laguiole cutlery set comes in black, white and oatmeal and sells out within hours when it makes its annual return to shelves.
The set is just $29.99 which is almost unheard of for such high quality cutlery. As a result, it has always been one of the stories most eagerly anticipated items.
The stylish sets, which come in a pinewood storage tray, retail for up to $349 on the Lou Laguiole website.
The cheapest they sell for elsewhere is $119 on Catch, the discount retailer platform.
The sets are rolled out in January each year – though the colours can differ – and often lead to long lines forming at stores around the country.
The German-owned supermarket first offered the cutlery set in 2019 – inviting savvy shoppers to win a set by naming their ideal dinner guest.
Ever since, the budget sets have been a ‘must-buy’ for those unwilling to splurge on the more expensive versions.

‘These are beautiful,’ one wrote.
‘I have these and I am always complimented when I have people over,’ another said.
‘Last year I got two sets for when I have dinner parties,’ one more said.
Others warned the cutlery doesn’t do so well in the dishwasher.
‘Make sure you only hand wash these or the bees will fall off,’ they said.
Described as the ‘world’s most beautiful cutlery’, Lou Laguiole has always been highly sought after.
While the dupes aren’t hard to find, the fact that Aldi sells the ‘real deal’ always gets people talking.
As a result, Aldi has warned that due to high demand the cutlery is likely to sell out on the first day.
