Aldi unveils its first branded fashion collection with all items bearing budget supermarket’s logo

Aldi has launched its first ever branded loungewear collection aimed at die-hard fans of the budget supermarket.

The new ALDImania line, which includes hoodies, pyjama sets and underwear all emblazoned with the chain’s bold logo, is part of next week’s Specialbuys, with most garments available to pre-order from Sunday (April 25).

Prices range from £1.49 to £14.99, with the leisurewear hitting UK stores on April 29 – and as is the case with Specialbuys, once it’s gone, it’s gone.

Most of the Aldi capsule collection, which featured on the main billboard in London’s Leicester Square this morning, is gender neutral and logo-heavy, modelled on designer brands like Nike and Adidas.

The ALDImania hoodie, priced at £14.99 and suitable for both men and women, is available in sizes small to XXL and certainly a statement piece.

Only available to buy online, the grey sweatshirt prominently displays the supermarket’s logo in its blue, yellow, orange and red shades, with the wearer visibly pledging their allegiance to the supermarket.

Its pyjama set, priced at just £12.99, includes a branded white short-sleeved T-shirt which features a crew neck finish, as well as matching light grey shorts, with an elasticated black waistband, bearing the Aldi name and logo, for maximum comfort.

The women’s version is available in small to large sizes, while the men’s option comes in small to XXL.

Shoppers can choose between a vibrant red and a classic light grey, or a traditional blue and dark blue, with each featuring an elasticated Aldi branded waistband.

And super fans can style out an outfit with a pair of ALDImania Socks (£1.49), which come in three different Aldi logo styles to suit any look and cater to 2.5-5, 6-8 and 9-11 shoe sizes.

Aldi already stocks a range of fashion items online, ranging from ski wear to sleepwear.

The budget retailer is currently embroiled in a legal battle with Marks & Spencer, which is suing Aldi over a copycat version of its £7 Colin the Caterpillar cake.

The grocery giant claimed Aldi was ‘riding on the coat-tails’ of its reputation and launched an intellectual property claim with the High Court last week.

M&S has argued the similarity of Aldi’s £4.99 Cuthbert the Caterpillar cake to its product misleads consumers, who might think they are of the same standard – and since the news broke, social media users have rejoiced with #CaterpillarWars and #FreeCuthbert trending.

Some have joked other supermarket’s caterpillar cakes – such as Sainsbury’s’ Wiggles for £6 and Tesco’s Curly the Caterpillar – will form a jury to help.

Others have used the meme made popular by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Oprah interview, asking the cakes if they were ‘silent or silenced’, while others have joked they’ll appear on the Jeremy Kyle show.
