Alec Baldwin on Saturday took to Twitter to extend an invitation to first lady Melania Trump to appear alongside him on Saturday Night Live.
The 60-year-old star made his statement on social media after the Slovenia-born wife of President Donald Trump was in the headlines this week after wearing a fern green Zara coat that read, ‘I really don’t care, do u?’ amid a trip to McAllen, Texas to see migrant children who’d been separated from their parents at the border.
He wrote, ‘Dear Melania- We know what you’re thinking. What you’re feeling. You are quaking w anticipation. Shuddering w a strange, newfound courage.’

The Academy Award nominee urged the 48-year-old first lady, ‘Come. Come over to the light.
‘We will welcome you as a hero in ways you never imagined possible. And then do SNL [with] me.’
The politically-engaged entertainer – who won an Emmy last fall for his impression of the 45th president – signed the tweet, ‘Sincerely, Alec.’
Baldwin also tweeted an 11-year-old shot of himself standing alongside Melania, writing, ‘We have a chair waiting for you in the @nbcsnl make-up room.

Amid the many celebrity cameo of Trump relatives and administration officials, SNL regular Cecily Strong has played the role of Melania to date.
Baldwin has emerged as one of Hollywood’s loudest voices to regularly speak out against Trump, both through his performances as well as remarks over the past few years, calling the commander-in-chief ‘a sexual predator’ while speaking to the LA Times last fall about the epidemic of sexual harassment and abuse in Hollywood.
‘Trump is a sexual predator. On the record, there’s all kinds of evidence that Trump has behaved this way, and he’s the president of the United States and that being just one of the things that is horrifying people about Trump, his opinions, his behavior, his methodology and there’s nothing you can do about that.’
Earlier this month, he told Howard Stern he feels he would easily defeat Trump in the 2020 election if he decided to run.
‘If I ran I would win – I would absolutely win,’ he said. ‘One thousand percent I would win.’
