‘I have good days, and a few days after chemo that kind of lay me low for a little bit, but overall I’m improving,’ he said.

‘My numbers are improving and I’m very positive about the outcome,’ Trebek concluded.

Trebek also mused on recent Jeopardy champion James Holzhauer and his incredible 32-game winning streak, which earned him $2.46 million.

‘I think Ken Jennings said it best a few weeks ago, when he said, “Hey, guys, keep in mind that I won my 74 games about 15 years ago, so I lost a step or two.”‘

He then compared Holzhauer and Jennings’ streaks to former great athletes in a sport like hockey, pondering how his hero would fare in today’s game.

‘How would Gordie Howe do in today’s league? Gordie is my hero, so he would do very well, but it’s a different league,’ Trebek said.

‘It’s faster than it used to be, the rules are different, you never know,’ he added, before returning to muse on a Jennings vs. Holzhauer match.

‘But it would be quite a match, Ken and James. There would have to be a third player, of course, and keep in mind that there are others who have done extremely well on Jeopardy! also.’

‘Brad Rutter, who has won more money than anyone in game shows, $4.5 million ($4.888 million to be exact), and has never lost to a human opponent,’ Trebek said, adding the only ‘enemy’ he lost to was the IBM computer Watson.

Trebek added there will be another Tournament of Champions on Jeopardy, teasing that a match between Holzhauer, Jennings and Rutter may happen.

‘He (James) will be invited back to compete, and who knows, we might have Brad and Ken Jennings in that tournament as well,’ Trebek hinted.
