Alison Hammond shocked ITV viewers as she appeared on the one-of-a-kind special of The Masked Singer: I’m A Celebrity special on Sunday night.

The This Morning presenter, 47, was the first celebrity to be unmasked leaving the judges, Jonathan Ross, Rita Ora, Davina McCall and Mo Gilligan’s jaws to drop. 

Taking part in the singing competition was former I’m A Celebrity campmates disguised as a Witchetty Grub, Kangaroo, Cockroach and Koala as they went head-to-head in a bid to be crowned the winner.

Alison, who appeared on the ITV show in 2010, was disguised as Witchetty Grub and performed confidently Heather Small’s Moving On Up. 

Unfortunately the studio audience voted for Koala over her meaning she was the first celeb to be unmasked. 

She completely shocked the judging panel as she removed her large mask leaving Davina hitting her head with frustration, she said: ‘Reality TV show duh’.

Alison told host Joel Dommett: ‘People actually forget I was on I’m A Celebrity because I arrived half way through the show.

‘I’m a million percent not a singer though. Hardest thing for me was not laughing and no I didn’t choice to be a Witchetty Grub, it chose me’,

However the judges strongly disagreed: ‘You can really sing’, said Jonathan and Rita as they all stood out of their seats stunned by her impressive performance.

Soon after the show, Alison took to her Instagram account sharing a snap of herself in the eye catching jungle costume.

The singing competition had a jungle makeover to celebrate the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here’s return to its original Australian camp for the first time in two years following the global coronavirus pandemic. 

There were several links through out the show to the Down Under series including presenter Joel, who finished in second place himself in 2016.

Vernon and Alison competed against Cockroach who was unmasked as Russell Watson from The Castle series in 2020 too.  

Kangaroo was revealed as X Factor icon Sinitta, who starred on the Australian show in 2011, as she took to the stage sing Lush Life by Zara Larsson.
