Dani Alves hilariously became the latest sportsman to prematurely celebrate on Sunday.

Brazil star Alves jumped the gun by dropping to his knees as the referee blew his whistle near the end of the Copa America final against Peru.

With Brazil 3-1 up, the free agent thought his country had won their home Copa America but the referee instead blew up for a free-kick right at the death.

After realising his hilarious mistake, the marauding right-back got straight back up from his knees to carry on as Brazil looked to close out the dying moments.

But the victory was never in doubt as Brazil comfortably won their first Copa America title in 12 years.

Everton got Brazil off to the perfect start, opening the scoring in the 15th minute but they were pegged back by a penalty from Peru’s Paolo Guerrero on the stroke of half-time.

Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus then restored Brazil’s lead before he was shown a second yellow with 20 minutes remaining. 

The hosts fought hard to hold onto their 2-1 advantage before Richarlison stepped up to seal victory from the penalty spot in the 90th minute.
