Farm owners Angela and Alan Rogers said they are amazed the 15-pound alpaca survived the life-threatening incident.

The owners set up a GoFundMe page. They wrote in the description: ‘We had to get his neck stitched up and he is currently on antibiotics and pain medicine when he needs it.

‘We will have a few more visits to the vet for check ups and if complications arise. He is struggling to get under mom to nurse so we are supplementing with bottles.

‘Lucky has been the sweetest baby and so friendly since he was born. We are praying he recovers so he can live a nice full life here on the farm.

‘The funds will be used to cover his vet bills and anything extra will be used to add additional fencing around our property so we can get Livestock Guard Dogs to keep the cougars at bay.’

The pair also said in a statement seen on ABC 7: ‘You know, he’s a survivor… and his mom’s one tough little alpaca, too.’
