An American Airlines flight attendant was left ‘mortified and slightly traumatized’ after dropping a tray full of drinks into the lap of a passenger, who happened to be the CEO of her company.

Maddie Peters was serving the first-class cabin on a recent to flight from Phoenix to Dallas, which included American Airlines boss William ‘Doug’ Parker.

‘I had a full tray with drinks on it, when the passenger in front of me stops in the aisle and backs up,’ Peters recounted on Instagram.

‘He bumps into the tray and the drinks go flying.’

In the four years she has worked for the airline, she says she has never before spilled a drink on a customer.

Peters said half of the liquid went all over her, while the rest ended up in Parker’s lap.

‘I WAS MORTIFIED. I wanted to drop dead right there in the aisle,’ she wrote.

‘(Like am I still employed?!) I’m still slightly traumatized/embarrassed.’

Peters said that Parker was ‘super cool and a good sport’ about the incident and the two even joked about it for the rest of the flight.

They also took a picture together before Parker disembarked in Dallas, where he lives with his wife and four children.

‘When he was getting off the plane he told me he’d never forget me…. guess that’s a good thing right?’ she wrote in the post alongside the photograph of herself with Parker.

Luckily both Peters and Parker see the funny side, with Peters admitting that most people never meet their CEO – let alone shower them with drinks.

‘Accidents happen. Oops,’ she added.
