American Idol: season two judge auditions take flight in Denver with judges dressed in flight suits

American Idol’s Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie wear flight suits as judge auditions kick off in Denver, Colorado

Auditions for season two of American Idol on ABC kicked-off in late August.

And on Tuesday all-star judges– Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie — joined the fold in the search for the next singing sensation inside an Air Force hanger in Denver, Colorado.  

To mark the beginning of judge auditions, the show released several behind-the-scenes photos and videos on Instagram.

‘Season 2 ready for takeoff!’ was written in the caption of a picture showing the judges dressed in flights suits.

Show producers also shared a sweet photo of Ryan Seacrest greeting Katy, Lionel and Luke in the dressing room before the event kicked off with the caption: ‘Family reunion.’

Once the stars got changed out of their flight suits and into their personal fashion of choice, it was time to greet the Idol wannabes.

‘American Idol auditions have landed here in Denver, Colorado and our judges are just inside a hanger and they are ready to hear the best voices in America take Flight,’ Ryan announced to the crowd in an Insta-Story video.

To add to the drama, there’s a picture of a piano with the headline ‘Stage is set.’ 

There’s also a quick video of the judges getting on the traveling Idol stage for the auditions with the headline: ‘Class is back in session.’ 

After 16-seasons of the hit show, which began in 2002 on Fox, the contestants appear to be just as excited as ever.

The excitement now heads to Idaho for the next stop of the judge auditions, which is the home state of last season’s winner Maddie Poppe.
