American Idol star Kellie Pickler’s singer-songwriter husband has shot himself dead at their home in Nashville.

Kyle Jacobs, 49, was found on Friday inside a locked upstairs bedroom and office. Pickler, 36, was at home at the time and, unable to find him, called 911.

Officers responded to the call at 1.21pm local time on Friday.

‘Officers and Nashville Fire Department personnel responded and located resident Kyle Jacobs, 49, deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound in an upstairs bedroom/office,’ Nashville police said in a statement.

‘His death is being investigated as an apparent suicide.’

Spokesman Don Aaron said all others at the home were safe.

Pickler gained fame as a contestant on the fifth season of American Idol, in 2006, and finished in sixth place. In 2006, she signed to 19 Recordings and BNA Records as a recording artist.

Residency and other records place the couple there, and ownership records say the home was last bought in 2010 by Pickler’s manager, Julie Boos.

Officers from the police department’s West Precinct and the Nashville Fired Department rushed to the initial call, and were later followed by a detective team and officials from the Medical Examiner’s Office.

Pickler, 36, is a country music star with hit songs including Don’t You Know You’re Beautiful and Best Days of Your Life, co-written with Taylor Swift.

She married Jacobs in 2011.

The most recent residency records for the couple are from 2018 and place them at the home.

Jacobs also has an Alaska hunting and fishing license registered to the property from May 2021.

‘We are investigating at president an apparent suicide at a home on Sneed road,’ said the police spokesman, Don Aaron.

He told DailyMail.com: ‘The call came in at 1.21pm.

‘Sneed Road is located within our police department’s West precinct, so West Precinct officers responded, as did the Nashville Fire Department to that initial call.

‘Since that time, a detective team has responded.

‘The apparent suicide is of a male, an adult.’

The Nashville Police spokesman added that the Medical Examiner’s Office later attended, and said that was normal for incidents involving a death.

The house on Sneed Road in a suburb south of Nashville city center has four bedrooms and one and a half bathrooms according to a Zillow listing.

It was last purchased in 2010 for $1.4million and is now worth an estimated $2.4million.

The purchase was by Julie Boos, owner of Tennessee music management company FBMM and Pickler’s manager.
