American Idol will not be rebooted in 2018.

According to a Saturday report from TMZ, the show has put on hold even though both NBC and Fox were interested.

The reason for the sudden change is an alleged fight between the co-owners of American Idol, Fremantle and Core.

According to the site, both NBC and FOX made offers to bring the show back.

NBC wanted to rotate Idol with two other shows, America’s Got Talent and The Voice, according to TMZ.

Fremantle also owns AGT.

It was claimed Fremantle was pressuring Core to take NBC’s offer.

But the site has alleged Core felt it was a conflict of interest.

So the owners did not get back to Fox or NBC on their offers.

Earlier this week it was revealed Adam Levine, 38, also only wants to work on The Voice for one cycle a year.

American Idol debuted on Fox in June 2002 and became a ratings juggernaut for the network.

Ryan Seacrest, 42, who hosted the show was favored by NBC for the reboot.

American Idol by 2004 was the most watched show on US television and held that top position for seven straight seasons.

Fox after a few years of sharp decline in the ratings announced that American Idol would end after its 15th season and it concluded in April 2016.

The network reportedly found the show became too expensive to produce with talent salaries of Seacrest, Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick Jr.

The Voice currently is airing its 12th season on NBC with Levine, Blake Shelton, Gwen Stefani and Alicia Keys as mentors.
