Amir Khan will face former MMA fighter Neeraj Goyat in a money-spinning exhibition bout in Saudi Arabia.

As Sportsmail revealed, Khan is on the verge of finalising a £7million deal to headline an India vs Pakistan boxing event on July 12, which is expected to be formally announced on Friday.

Khan is currently in Saudi Arabia signing contracts and will return to London next week where he will speak at a press conference, which has been scheduled for June 5.

It is understood that a number of fighters were considered before Goyat was selected to face Khan.

Goyat is a former MMA fighter and won both of his fights before making the switch to boxing.

The 27-year-old won a bronze medal during Olympic qualifying for the Rio Games and made his professional boxing debut in 2011.

He was also the first Indian boxer to break into the WBC rankings, peaking at 21, and is currently ranked as the No 1 welterweight from his country.

Goyat has 11 wins, three defeats and two draws on his professional record and was last out in April, beating Carlos Lopez Marmolejo by unanimous decision.

The unheralded Goyat represents a significant step down in class from Khan’s previous fight against Terence Crawford.

Khan was stopped by the WBO world champion in six rounds back in April.

It is understood that Khan’s fight against Goyat will be an exhibition bout. It is likely that there will be no judges or official record.
