Mention Paris and it’s difficult not to picture the Eiffel Tower.
But a survey reveals that a quarter of Britons who visit the French capital don’t even bother to go to see the iconic monument.
A similar number who travel 3,500 miles to Cairo can’t seem to find the time to make the eight-mile trip to see the Great Pyramid of Giza.

A third of us admit we often just stay in our resort instead.
Other landmarks we fail to visit – according to the poll by holiday comparison site Kayak – are Christ the Redeemer (45 per cent) in Rio, Brazil, the Grand Canyon (32 per cent) in Arizona, USA, and the Sydney Opera House (25 per cent) in Australia.
