I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! executive producer reveals the one superstar he REGRETS casting on the show
An executive producer for I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! has revealed the one celebrity he regrets casting on the show.
In an interview with podcast TV RELOAD on Saturday, ITV Studios’ Alex Mavroidakis admitted he regretted casting Hollywood celebrity gossip blogger Perez Hilton on the show in 2020, as he simply ‘wasn’t the right fit’.
Mavroidakis said he’d hoped to recreate the success Perez, 42, had had during his appearance on Big Brother in the UK.
‘Perez Hilton we put in the jungle thinking that he would bring a lot of celebrity gossip, which he did, thinking that he would be a different person to the person that went into the English Big Brother house,’ he explained.
He added: ‘In hindsight, probably wasn’t the right fit for an Australian audience.’
Perez made no secret of his disdain for the hit reality show after appearing on last year’s season.

Following his controversial exit from the show, Perez told 10 daily in January last year: ‘I could not run faster out of there!’
As he sprinted out of the camp, the American socialite told his co-stars: ‘Adios. It was a pleasure meeting most of you. Bye-bye!’
Viewers branded Perez ‘rude’ and ‘disrespectful’ in a series of Tweets soon after his departure from the show.

‘Jeez. What a poor sport, good riddance Perez,’ wrote one person at the time.
‘So bloody ungrateful and disrespectful,’ read another comment, while someone else branded his behaviour as ‘plain rude’.
Perez later slammed his I’m A Celebrity… co-star Ryan Gallagher, in a video post on YouTube in January last year.
‘He wants to be a comic, or he’s been doing some comedy. For almost all the time in the jungle he was constantly cracking jokes… It was exhausting,’ he said of the Married At First Sight star.
He added: ‘Ryan was on all the time. It was draining to be around.’
