Andy Dick’s friends and ‘fiancee’ say he was ‘set up’ by vloggers exploiting his downward spiral

Andy Dick’s on-again-off-again fiancée’ says he’s safer in jail after his sexual battery arrest this week – the latest in a string of criminal calamities for the former star comedian.

Dick, 56, was cuffed by cops at an RV parked in an Orange County, California campground Wednesday morning, but has been released and is yet to be charged.  

The alleged sex attack was against one of the men with whom he was staying in the mobile home – and who was seen ‘cuddling and kissing’ him two hours earlier.

Dick’s friends and family claim he was set up by RV-dwelling YouTubers looking to profit from his fame and his scandalous alcohol and drug-fueled downward spiral.

The YouTubers claimed in a video posted on their channel that he molested one of them with coconut oil while he slept.

His on again-off again fiancée Elisa Jordana, 33, told DailyMail.com Dick had been couch surfing since his eviction from two apartments in the past year for constant partying, property damage and police visits.

Until April, Dick was living with Jordana’s friend in Las Vegas who was trying to keep him sober, Jordana said. But she claimed Dick was tempted away with offers of booze by the RV streamers.

For the past month he had been living with a group of men who livestream most of their days in a motorhome under the YouTube account Captain Content’s RV; drinking, smoking and performing on camera for around 10,000 viewers.

Police were called to the RV parked at a campsite in O’Neill Regional Park, Trabuco Canyon, California, at around 9am on Wednesday after a report of alleged sexual battery by Dick. The arrest was caught on the YouTubers’ livestream.

‘He’s just not capable of making rational decisions right now. So he ended up with these people that put him in a really bad scenario,’ Jordana told DailyMail.com.

‘I think that this was pre-orchestrated so they could sue him, or they want notoriety from it. 

‘I talked to him at 6am that morning, and I talked to the accuser. They were in bed laughing and giggling, touching each other, cuddling and necking.

‘Andy’s not violent, sexually. He’s very sweet. I’m scared that the people that he ended up with, or taking advantage of his vulnerability, because he’s extremely vulnerable right now.’

Dick’s friend and former housemate Jesse Grider agreed.

‘They’re just exploiting him and putting him on livestream all the time and trying to get something out of him,’ he said.

Four police cars showing up for a celebrity arrest came as a surprise to Laguna Beach retirees David and Pam Hagen, who were enjoying a mid-week getaway in their airstream caravan, having just finished their breakfast and preparing for a day of hiking.

‘I noticed a police officer standing in the doorway to that RV with his hand on his rifle,’ said David.

‘We realized something was going on that was a big deal over here,’ Pam added.

‘Back 15 years ago there used to be a lot of homeless wanderers here. But now it’s very nice,’ David said. ‘So that surprised me.’

Nestled at the end of a leafy and winding canyon road, past a meditation center and a community church, the gravel-lined campground was dotted with old timers in spacious motorhomes and young families cooking out and enjoying the 80-degree sunshine on Thursday.

The arrest and lead up were livestreamed with footage posted to YouTube later of a young man  who goes by the name ‘JJ’ telling another person in the RV that he believed Dick had molested him in his sleep

But one camping spot stood out, with tipped-over camping chairs and trash strewn about a battered RV patched up with duct tape.

Another visitor, a mother on a short break with her kids and father who arrived the day after the incident, was shocked to learn that Andy Dick had been holed up in there for days drinking and smoking with the YouTubers.

‘Andy Dick? Shut the front door!’ she exclaimed. ‘It looked really sketchy. There was trash and beer. There’s no alcohol allowed here.’

While Dick’s fiancee says he is not a violent man, he has a history of violence with his partners.

In November 2021, the former NewsRadio comedian was arrested for felony domestic battery after he allegedly hit his then-boyfriend in the head with a liquor bottle leaving him bleeding from a sizeable wound.

A month earlier Dick was arrested for allegedly hitting the boyfriend, Lukas Crawford, in the face with a frying pan.

In June 2021, the actor was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon for allegedly attacking a male partner with a metal chair.

In 2019, he was sentenced to 14 days in jail after being convicted of sexual battery for allegedly squeezing a woman’s rear end. He was released after a single night due to jail overcrowding.

But even his fiancée, who often bases episodes of her own YouTube show Kermit and Friends around Dick’s whirlwind of drama, says that she would now prefer him in prison.

‘I wish they’d kept him in jail. I don’t think he can get hurt in there,’ she said. ‘At least there are caretakers that are being paid to watch over him 24 hours a day.’

But Orange County Sheriff inmate records show Dick was released Thursday after a bond was posted for his bail, previously set at $25,000.

The TV star, whose real name is Andrew Thomlinson, walked out of jail in Santa Ana Thursday night after posting $25,000 bail, Orange County District Attorney’s spokesperson Kimberly Edds told DailyMail.com. 

She said that no charges have been filed yet against the comedian and actor.

‘There is not sufficient evidence against him so far to file charges – and there is a possibility that we won’t file charges at all,’ Edds added. 

‘It depends on whether the Sheriff’s investigation turns up more evidence.’

Police were snapped arriving at Dick and former housemate Jesse Grider’s Hollywood apartment that they dubbed the ‘trap house’ – from which he was eventually evicted

Trash and giant sex toys can be seen littering the living room

Jordana said that she tried to host him at her home after he lost first a Hollywood apartment lease then another for a Los Angeles Koreatown loft, but found him too much to handle.

‘He’s just looking for alcohol and ways to get in trouble,’ she said.

‘I was gonna let him stay at my place,’ Grider said. ‘But he’s too much maintenance. You’d need 24-hour maids. He just drinks all the time.’

The comedian’s latest spiral has largely unraveled on camera.

After Jordana kicked him out, Dick headed to Vegas, where he was allegedly attacked and left with a bloodied, swollen face. 

Jordana posted her video call with him after the attack on YouTube, then arranged for him to stay with another YouTuber who goes by the name Wappy Flanker.

The fiancée said Wappy was a positive influence, helping to keep Dick sober. But when viewers of Wappy’s channel saw him pull a gun on one of Dick’s visitors and scream at him, one called in a welfare check and police showed up at the door on April 16.

Dick soon decided to leave and hitch a ride with another YouTuber who runs the channel Captain Content’s RV.

‘He was being passed around from RV to RV, and they were supplying him with drugs and alcohol,’ Jordana claimed.

‘If he gets into an RV with people that are offering it, he’s going to be taking it and asking for it. When he was staying with me he had no access to anything. That’s why he ran away from me.’

She added however that as an addict, Dick only had himself to blame.

‘As much as I’d love to blame those RV people…he has to take responsibility for this.’
