Spilling the details: In a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter , 42-year-old Ross referred to Roberts, 32, as the ‘boss’ on the set of the FX series
Ross, a transgender woman, told the entertainment outlet about Emma: ‘She had not allowed the makeup team to age her that much.
‘We were supposed to be aged several years. So I knew from the makeup department about what was going on.’
The story continued, ‘So she comes to set and I’m like, “Oh, you look rested.” And she goes, “John [J. Gray, the director], Angelica’s being mean!” And he goes, “Okay, ladies…” And she goes, “Don’t you mean … lady?”
Ross recalled, ‘She goes, “I was really just referring to myself.” I said, “Don’t. Don’t do it.”‘
It comes after Angelica discussed the exchange on Instagram Live earlier this week, and later took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to share that Roberts had reached out to apologize.
‘She apologized and she said, “I hate that you walked away from our experience together feeling like that. I see in hindsight what I did and how stupid that was. I’m an ally,”‘ Ross told THR.
Ross added, ‘I was like, “No, you’re not. You can’t call yourself an ally. It’s an action. You need to be real with me in this conversation. I’m being real with you. You were being messy.”‘
Ross added that Emma told her she hoped they could move forward and ‘fix this.’

Ross continued, ‘And I said, “Oh, so you see me? You see me talking about the anti-Blackness? Are you using your platform to amplify the work that I’m doing? No, you haven’t. So what kind of ally are you?” She was like, “Well, okay. There’s more to be said there. I would love to support causes that you support.”‘
In the THR interview, Angelica also said, ‘The truth of the matter is, I know Emma’s got big balls. I’ve seen them on the set, so I’m not surprised that she called me. This girl is no damsel in distress, ever.’
The Kenosha, Wisconsin native didn’t initially reveal Emma’s identity when she spoke on Instagram Live, stating that she feared retaliation. But on Wednesday Ross took to X and claimed Roberts had contacted her, posting on the site: ‘Thank you @RobertsEmma for calling and apologizing, recognizing your behavior was not that of an ally.
‘I will leave the line open to follow up on your desire to do better and support social justice causes with your platform.’
