Rocker Angry Anderson has tearfully thanked fans for their outpouring of support, months after his son was allegedly beaten to death by a former friend.  

In a video titled ‘Thank you’, the hit maker described the period following his youngest son Liam’s recent death as his family’s ‘darkest hour’.   

Liam Anderson, 26, was found with fatal head injuries on a road in Queenscliff on Sydney’s Northern Beaches in November.

His former friend Matthew Flame, then 20, was arrested and charged with his murder while under the influence of a cocktail of drugs and alcohol. 

After first requesting privacy in the wake of Liam’s death, Angry, 71, has now expressed appreciation for the support offered by fans following the tragedy. 

‘Recently my family and I went through our darkest hour so far in our lives,’ he opened in the emotional clip. 

‘I was amazed by in the few days and in the weeks following the hundreds if not thousands of messages we received.’ 

‘I’ve tried to answer all of those personally, as many as I can and I still am but so many messages came in from all around Australia and the world,’ he continued.

‘(The messages’ authors offered) their hearts to us in support, while we struggled with our new life. 

‘Each and every one of those messages I read and my children read. Each and every one of those messages meant so much to us.’

The Anderson’s initially called for privacy, speaking about the issue only sparingly until Anderson’s official Facebook account shared the video on Saturday afternoon.  

During an memorial service held following Liam’s death, his mother Lindy recalled how the tragedy’s effect was yet to fully impact the family.  

The devastated mother told the Daily Telegraph after the funeral service: ‘It’s real now, until today I could pretend Liam’s death never happened but now it’s sinking in, I will never see my baby boy again.’
