Oleksandr Usyk’s promoter Alexander Krassyuk has teased an imminent announcement for the unified heavyweight champion’s rematch with Anthony Joshua.

The two London 2012 Olympians are set to renew their rivalry in the spring although a date, destination, and venue are yet to be confirmed for the second fight.

He told Sky Sports: ‘Many things are happening at the moment. Soon we will unveil everything.’

There had been brief speculation that Joshua would entertain stepping aside to let Tyson Fury and Usyk fight it out for the title of undisputed heavyweight champion, but that talk has now subsided.

Krassyuk added: ‘I heard that Joshua could consider stepping aside if the money is right as he feels respect to the division and is willing to let the undisputed heavyweight championship happen.’

Usyk vs Joshua II was initially targeted for late March but is currently in the works for April.

Former champ Joshua has triggered a rematch clause to fight Usyk again and attempt to claw back his IBF, WBA and WBO heavyweight belts, after being turned over at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium back in September.

Usyk defeated Joshua after 12 rounds of intense boxing, and the former undisputed cruiserweight champion was declared the winner by unanimous decision.

AJ promoter Eddie Hearn recently said: ‘I think April is realistic for that fight.

‘Before you know it, it’s going to be February and these fights take a lot of organising.

‘For us, the preferred date and venue for that fight will be the UK, in which case we would have to do the fight outside, so we’re not really interested in doing that fight in March.

It was also confirmed that Joshua is set to reveal his new trainer ahead of training camp as he ramps up preparations for his rematch with Oleksandr Usyk, according to his promoter Hearn.

The 32-year-old British heavyweight has been on a tour of the US and Dubai auditioning new trainers like Eddy Reynoso, Virgil Hunter, Floyd Mayweather and Anthony Wilson, as he looks to add to his team.
