Anthony Scaramucci was seen dining with Nikki Haley before dumping Trump

Anthony Scaramucci dined with the former U.S ambassador Nikki Haley ten days before publicly withdrawing his support from Donald Trump and warning Republicans the president ‘eventually turns on everyone’.

The former White House aide, 55, was seen ‘in deep discussion’ with Ms Haley at a Harlem restaurant just over a week before he suggested the Republican Party had better find another leader for the 2020 elections.

The political consultant, nicknamed ‘The Mooch’, served 11 days as White House communications director in 2017,  before publicly condemning the president’s leadership and telling Americans Trump was like a ‘nuclear reactor’ last week.

The pair’s sighting, which was reported by Page Six today, comes after the former White House communications director said Trump was on the verge of a meltdown and told members of the Republican party to consider replacing the president.

He said: ‘A couple more weeks like this and ”country over party” is going to require the Republicans to replace the top of the ticket in 2020.’

However on Tuesday morning, columnist and former White House Director of Strategic Communication Mercedes Schlapp blasted the former aide for his comments.

In an interview with Martha MacCallum on Fox News Ms Schlapp branded Mr Scaramucci a ‘self-centered man’ who ‘terrorized’ members of staff during his short stint in the White House.

She said: ‘Anthony Scaramucci is all about Anthony Scaramucci.

‘You can ask young staffers in the communications office that literally were terrorized by Anthony Scaramucci, where he only survived 11 days in that job.’

She added: ‘He went in there saying, ‘Who’s going to be fired next?’

On Monday Mr Scaramucci likened the president to the Wicked Witch of the West from the 1993 classic The Wizard of Oz.

Speaking to CNN on Monday the former aide said: ‘Remember when the water got thrown on the green witch and she started melting?’ ‘What happened to all those soldiers, right?’

‘They’re in that position right now. So let’s throw some water on the green witch and let’s watch what the soldiers do, which is they’ll team up with Dorothy. That’s how the movies go. Let’s end the bullying and let’s end this sort of nonsense.’

However Trump furiously hit back at Mr Scaramucci on Monday, claiming the former White House aide said he shouldn’t be the Republican presidential nominee next year because he just ‘wanted to be on TV!’

Taking to Twitter the president, who is currently at his Trump golf course in Bedminister, N.J., wrote:  ‘Scaramucci, who like so many others had nothing to do with my Election victory, is only upset that I didn’t want him back in the Administration (where he desperately wanted to be).

‘Also, I seldom had time to return his many calls to me. He just wanted to be on TV!’

Mr Scaramucci has also served on Trump’s finance committee during the 2016 campaign and was on his presidential team after he won the election.

The former aide was able to predict the backlash he would receive from his former boss during his appearance on MSNBC last Thursday.

He said: ‘He probably would be mad at somebody for saying that. Maybe he’ll tweet something negative about somebody for saying he didn’t do well.’

‘But facts are he did not do well on the trip because if the trip is being made about him and not the demonstration of compassion and love and caring and empathy for those people, then it becomes a catastrophe for him, the administration, and it’s also a bad reflection on the country.’
