Antonio Brown now insists he is ‘determined’ to RETURN to the NFL

After declaring he was done with the NFL and accusing the league of mistreating African-American players, embattled free agent Antonio Brown backtracked on Thursday afternoon, tweeting that he is ‘determined’ to return and was simply ‘frustrated [by the] false’ sexual assault allegations against him

After declaring he was done with the NFL and accusing the league of mistreating African-American players, embattled free agent Antonio Brown backtracked on Thursday afternoon, tweeting that he is ‘determined’ to return and was simply ‘frustrated [by the] false’ sexual assault allegations against him.

The 31-year-old receiver has been cut by both the Oakland Raiders and New England Patriots in the last two months. A potential return to the NFL may well be contingent on the verdict of the NFL’s ongoing investigation into the rape and sexual assault allegations made against him in a lawsuit by his former personal trainer.

Thursday marked the second time in the last two months that Brown has ostensibly quit professional football only to backtrack. He  previously declared he was done with the NFL after  Patriots cut him in September, but had since resumed training in hopes of being signed by another team.

Brown’s latest reversal began Thursday morning with the first of his back-and-forth tweets.

‘Imagine conforming to a system giving it a 100 percent to see them treat me like this is unfairly (sic)!’ he wrote. ‘Making money off my sweat and blood F*** the @nfl I’ll never play in that s*** treat black people the worse (sic)! Clear my name and go f*** your self (sic).’

That tweet has since been deleted and replaced with a clearer, more carefully worded statement.

‘I’m just very frustrated right now with the false allegations and slander to my name,’ he wrote. ‘I love football and I miss it. I just want to play and I’m very emotional about that. I’m determined to make my way back to the NFL asap.’

Personal trainer and former Central Michigan gymnast Britney Taylor accused Brown of raping her and sexually assaulting her on three occasions between 2017 and 2018 at his mansions in suburban Pittsburgh and in south Florida

The NFL has already spoken to Taylor, who initially sued Brown in federal court, but has since dropped that lawsuit and refiled in Broward County, Florida civil court

He was reportedly scheduled to meet with the NFL on Wednesday to discuss the rape and sexual assault allegations. Sources told ESPN that Brown was eager to give his testimony because teams have expressed an interest in signing him if and when the league drops its investigation.

NFL Network’s Ian Rappaport also reported that Brown could have several meetings with the league, and that the investigation ‘is not expected to conclude any time soon.’

An NFL spokesman declined to comment on any potential meeting, but there is no sign that it has been cancelled.

Brown’s attorney did not respond to a request for comment.

Another woman has since anonymously accused Brown of sexual harassment, telling Sports Illustrated that he hired her in 2017 to paint a mural at his Pennsylvania home, where he disrobed and approached her wearing only a hand towel over his genitals.

In response to that story, the 31-year-old Brown sent menacing text messages to the unidentified woman, accusing her of making up the allegation and threatening to look into her past.

She then shared those texts with Sports Illustrated.

The unidentified woman has not filed any lawsuit or pressed criminal charges against Brown.

He has maintained his innocence against all sexual misconduct chargers.

Although Brown has not been charged, criminally, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell does have the authority to suspend him.

A separate ESPN report claimed the Seattle Seahawks expressed an interest in signing Brown, who has been released by the Oakland Raiders and New England Patriots in the last two months. Seattle ultimately signed another former Patriot, wide receiver Josh Gordon.

Brown was cut by the Patriots on September 20, shortly after the text messages to his anonymous accuser were reported. The team never gave an official reason for his release.

He was cut in Oakland after several incidents, one of which involved him confronting general manager Mike Mayock about personal fines for missed practices.

Brown has since filed grievances against the Raiders and Patriots in hopes of recouping $61 million in lost salary between both franchises.

Previously Brown’s agent Drew Rosenhaus told ESPN that there are ‘a few’ teams interested in signing Brown.

Brown retweeted a comment from actor Daniel Baldwin in defense of the former All-Pro receiver.

‘Might be time to remind them who stands on top of the hill Cuz!!!!’ Baldwin wrote on Twitter. ‘#YouBettaAskSomebody.’
