Apple will reopen all its Australian retail stores this week – but they’ll be nothing like they were before the corona lockdown

Apple is set to reopen its Australian stores on Thursday after shutting down for over seven weeks due to the coronavirus crisis.

The American tech giant was forced to close its 21 Australian retail stores in response to the pandemic, but with the COVID-19 curve flattening across the country Apple says they’re now ready to welcome back customers.

‘We’ve missed our customers and look forward to offering our support,’ a spokesperson told 9News.

‘With many Australians working and learning from home, our initial focus will be providing service and support at the Genius Bar.’

‘To start, we will open with additional safety procedures including temperature checks, social distancing, and an adjusted schedule, to ensure customers and employees continue to stay healthy.’

But the spokesperson said operations will be far from ‘normal’ and anyone entering the store will need to undergo temperature checks

‘Our social distance protocol means a limited number of visitors in the store at one time so there may be a delay for walk-in customers,’ the spokesperson said.

‘We recommend, where possible, customers buy online for delivery or in-store pick-up.

‘As always, our thoughts are with everyone affected by COVID-19 and those working around the clock to treat, study, and contain its spread.’
