Applebee’s waitress is given racist note by white family which says ‘we don’t tip black people’

An Applebee’s waitress has told of her shock after being given a racist note by a white family which said: ‘We don’t tip black people’.

Jasmine Brewer, 26, was working at the Applebee’s in Radcliff, Kentucky, on September 19 when she served the family-of-four dinner.

The young mother said they were hesitant to speak to her as soon as she approached them.

‘I asked him how they was doing, went through my little rundown.

This is the note waitress Jasmine Brewer was given on September 19 while working at Applebee’s in Radcliff, Kentucky. A white family with young children left it inside the check book for her to find instead of a tip

‘As I was talking to them, they barely said anything to me. They didn’t want to tell me their drinks. They didn’t want to tell me their food.

‘One person ordered for the whole table,’ she told WDRB.

She remained professional, she said, and waited until they left the restaurant to approach the table again and look for a tip in the checkbook.

That was where they had left the note, she said, scrawled on a white napkin.

She immediately texted her mother a photograph of it but was resistant to tell anyone else because she was ’embarrassed’, she said.

Her mother, Regina, however shared the note on Facebook in an outraged post which has since gone viral.

Strangers who were horrified by the treatment she received have since given her $200 in online donations to make up for the tip she lost.

‘When I see people actually did support me, that let’s you know there’s more good people in the world than bad,’ she said.

Applebee’s said in a statement that it was disgusted by how she had been treated.

‘All restaurant team members deserve to be treated with dignity and respect.

‘The remarks directed at one of our franchisee’s employees are unacceptable and inconsistent with Applebee’s values as a brand,’ a company spokesman said.
