Are bleached eyebrow just for celebs? Eliza contributor tests it out with very surprising results

Does the bleached eyebrows trend REALLY look good? Eliza’s beauty contributor tests it out – with VERY surprising results

  • Beauty columnist Madeleine Spencer reveals how to safely bleach your brows
  • The makeup pro was delighted with the ‘refreshing’ results of her experiment

The bleached eyebrow trend shows no signs of going anywhere, with A-listers such as Kylie Jenner, Nicola Peltz Beckham and Madonna debuting the look in recent weeks.

The ‘vanishing eyebrows’ effect is not just a high-fashion statement, however. Now, TikTok users in their droves are taking to the platform to learn how to bleach their eyebrows at home. The hashtag #bleachedbrows currently has over 143 million views.

This marks a big change from the extensive brow routines that grew in popularity in the 2000s. Eliza’s beauty contributor Madeleine Spencer was a devotee; her method included growth serum, scissors for shaping, pencil and powder to fill in the gaps, as well as gel to keep them in place.

‘I was beginning to get sick of eyebrow perfection,’ says Madeleine, who was after a less-groomed look. ‘Then I saw bleached brows everywhere and they looked so refreshing.’

As a beauty expert used to mixing up her look, she felt confident enough to try the process for herself at home.

For those up for a challenge, Madeleine has shared her full experience – along with a how-to video of the process and recommended products to use – at eliza.co.uk.

Using bleach around your eyes can be a bit risky, but as long as you stick to the instructions on your chosen bleach brow dye very carefully and have protective products on standby, you should be safe.

If you feel daunted by a DIY approach however, then head to a brow bar or ask your hairdresser if they could professionally dye them for you instead.
