Arsenal 2-1 Chelsea – PLAYER RATINGS

Arsenal came from behind to see off London rivals Chelsea and book a place in the final of the Carabao Cup against Manchester City in February.

The Gunners got off to a sloppy start after falling behind to an Eden Hazard strike but an Antonio Rudiger own goal and a second half effort from Granit Xhaka ensured Arsene Wenger’s team booked a fourth major final in five years.

Here Sportsmail looks at how both team’s players rated at the Emirates Stadium in the second leg.

Jack Wilshere was among the Arsenal stars as they reached the Carabao Cup final

Arsenal (3-5-2)

David Ospina – 6

Helpless for Eden Hazard’s opening goal but after that had very little to do for the rest of the game aside from collecting a weak hopeful chip from Pedro.

Laurent Koscielny – 6

Like the rest of the Arsenal defence, the centre-back made a slow start to the game but grew in confidence and was close to faultless in the second period.

Shkodran Mustafi – 6

A similar evening to Koscielny. Recovered from a testing first half to help snuffle out any glimmer of Chelsea attacks. Constantly clearing defensive lines.

Nacho Monreal – 6

Has found a knack of getting into scoring positions recently and his header helped bring the own goal to level the tie. Booked after chopping down Hazard.

Hector Bellerin – 6

A rather anonymous evening for the pacey full-back. Only two crosses delivered all game and none of those found a team-mate.

Jack Wilshere – 7

Battled hard and well in the midfield and quickly imposed himself on Ross Barkley. Performance only boosted his hopes of reaching the World Cup.

Mohamed Elneny – 7

Effective in stunting Chelsea’s attacking play. Was tidy in anchoring the midfield and hardly put a pass wrong as well as making couple of interceptions.

Granit Xhaka – 6.5

Mesut Ozil grew into the game and his classy touches on the ball nearly brought an assist

Wasn’t at his most effective in stopping Chelsea attacks but was in the right place in the right time to fire Arsenal towards Wembley.

Alex Iwobi – 6

Solid performance from the midfielder who often moved into space on the left and created opportunities with cut-backs. Should have scored in second half though.

Mesut Ozil – 7

Drifted in and out of the game but was a potent attacking weapon. Went close to scoring at end of the first half and produced delightful back heel to set up a good chance for Iwobi.

Alexandre Lacazette – 6

Not a night to remember for the striker, but it was his pass that was deflected into the path of Xhaka for the eventual winner. Substituted late on.

Substitutes: Sead Kolasinac for Alexandre Lacazette (84mins) and Aaron Ramsey for Alex Iwobi (84mins)

MANAGER: Arsene Wenger – 6.5

After a terrible start and a poor first half overall, Wenger’s half-time teamtalk appeared to boost his side who looked a greater attacking threat after the break.

Chelsea (3-4-3)

Willy Caballero – 6

Helpless for both of Arsenal’s goals but was otherwise relatively untested aside from making a good stop to deny Iwobi in the second period.

Cesar Azpilicueta – 6

Not a great game for the defender who featured on the right of Chelsea’s back three. Attacking passes can often be a strong point but were nowhere to be seen.

Andreas Christensen – 6

Can take credit in helping shut down Lacazette for most of the game but never looked totally comfortable throughout the 90 minutes

Antonio Rudiger (right) was unfortunate to see two deflections contribute to Arsenal goals

Antonio Rudiger – 5

Right places at the wrong times. Could do very little to avoid scoring an own goal and was unfortunate to see his block from a Lacazette cross divert straight to Xhaka for the winner.

Victor Moses – 6.5

Was hauled off with just under 20 minutes left having contributed very little down the right flank but was no worse than his replacement Davide Zappacosta.

N’Golo Kante – 7

Could never establish dominance in the midfield but was still alert to make a number of key interceptions for the Blues.

Tiemoue Bakayoko – 6

Another sub-standard evening for the midfielder. Made a few decent tackles but the game just seemed to pass the Frenchman by.

Marcos Alonso – 6

Night summed up by a late free-kick. In a position to grab an equaliser in the final few minutes he hit a terrible effort well over the bar.

Pedro – 6

Started well, even if he was offside after steering a neat header past Ospina. But the forward soon faded along with Chelsea before making way for Michy Batshuayi

Eden Hazard – 7

Took his goal well and was Chelsea’s best player on the pitch, despite a second half stumble while in on goal. Struggled to form an understanding with Barkley though.

Willian 6

Hauled off early after suffering a hamstring injury and had very little chance to make a serious impact on the game.

Substitutes: Ross Barkley for Willian (30mins) Made his debut but hasn’t played since May and it showed. Michy Batshuayi for Pedro (65mins) and Davide Zappacosta for Victor Moses (72 mins)

MANAGER: Antonio Conte – 6

Unfortunate to see Cesc Fabregas and Thibaut Courtois ruled out but after a good start could do nothing to stop the tie slowly swinging towards Arsenal as the night progressed.
